Tad R. Callister on the Book of Mormon

During the Sunday afternoon session of this past General Conference, Sunday School General President Tad R. Callister talked about why the Book of Mormon is true. His talk was addressed to members of the church, but his tone also seemed as if it was directed towards the critics of the Book of Mormon. He brought up several persuasive points about Joseph Smith's background and translation process that really got the congregation thinking about the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon.

He explained that Joseph was a 23 year old farm boy that could hardly dictate a letter, but with his prophetic mantle was miraculously able to translate a single draft of the Book of Mormon which is amazing because even modern prophets and apostles sometimes have to write and rewrite their talks up to 40 times to get the desired message across. There is no denying that the powers of God aided him in his endeavor.

Elder Callister also stated that with Joseph's minimal education, the probability of him being able to create complex parables like that of the olive tree and develop battle strategies, places, names, and sermons without inconsistencies, is quite slim. There is even physical evidence still being found today of cement structures and other archeological finds that support the events and places read about in the Book of Mormon.

To further convince people around the world of the Book of Mormon, he added that many honorable men and the Spirit have testified and will testify of the truthfulness of the book.
I'm all, Elder Callister was able to deliver a compelling talk and used multiple persuasive tools and points to help further convince both current readers and skeptics that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and translated that holy, ancient record.
